Always Organized For a Better Life
The easiest way to be always organized is to just keep at it. Being organized is not something you do once and then forget about. It is a way of being. I think it is the best way of being. Not because I like being organized, even though I do like it. It is the best way because being organized is a means to whatever ends you are after. You just cannot hope to make any meaningful progress on your goals and what you want to do if you cannot handle the basics of life. It will not happen. Being always organized is the easiest and best way to have huge chunks of uninterrupted time to do what you want to do and what you need to do. Anything of value requires longer stretches of time. You cannot write a book, run a business, go back to school, undertake a long workout schedule, go on a trip of even have great sex with a few minutes here and there. You need longer stretches of time. Check out the rest of my website for lots of tips and ideas for the actual ways to go about being organized. If you are hopelessly disorganized you will need to use
massive action
in order to start the ball rolling. Once you get some
clutter reduced
and some routines in place your life will be much easier and you will have more time to do what you really want to do. The wrong way to go about doing more of what you want to do is what a lot of people think is the right way. Here are the wrong ways to get more done: 1) Sleep as little as you can. Getting enough sleep to maintain your health should be non-negotiable. You can only burn the midnight oil or get up excessively early once in awhile for really good reasons. Your health will suffer big-time if you consistently do not get enough sleep. 2) Do everything fast. Some things can be done fast. But a lot of things cannot. You will have to determine what those things are. Just realize that there are things in life that take a long time. 3) Trying to get others to do things for you. You just cannot delegate everything in your life. You will have to do your share and probably more than your share. Delegating is nice, but you cannot count on not doing a lot of work yourself. 4) Looking at things from a macro level. The devil is in the details is an old saying that is so true. You cannot see what the problems, setbacks and pitfalls are until you dive into the micro level details. 5) Thinking that there is some magic product or system that will get you totally organized or totally productive. There are all kinds of great products and systems. Try some and see. Just know that you will have to put in the time and effort to make them work. Being always organized is the easiest and best way of getting what you want.
