Avoid Difficult Things
For the most part, you need to avoid difficult things at night. It seems so rare to actually accomplish difficult things at night that I am not sure if I can even come up with any examples. It is so much better to do the hard stuff during the day. If you avoid difficult things at night your life will be so much easier. The other night I heard a truck outside in the parking lot of the apartment complex where I live. I was too tired to get up to look so I just stayed in bed and thought of what it could be. I did not think it was the garbage truck. They usually come in the morning. I did not think it was a snow plow or salting truck because it was not snowing and snow was not in the forecast. I finally fell asleep not knowing. When I went to my car the next morning I saw what had happened. Someone was maneuvering a large moving truck in the parking lot and had wedged the truck against the roof of the building next to mine. It looks like whoever is moving into one of the units in my building was trying to back the truck up close to their rear patio door to unload their stuff. That person was trying to back the truck up as close as possible and got stuck on the neighbors roof. It's pretty funny to think of a truck being stuck on a roof. It is instructive to think of all the wrong things the person did: 1) Trying to maneuver a huge truck without being an experienced driver. 2) Driving the truck in an unfamiliar parking lot without 2 spotters on each side watching for problems. 3) Moving in the winter. The small parking lot has been made even smaller with the snow piles along the sides and spilling onto the paved areas. 4) Trying to get the truck as close as possible to the door rather than parking safely in the street. The street is designed for large vehicles. Most apartment building parking lots are only big enough for cars. The garbage truck drives straight in and backs straight out. The dumpster is right in line with the main driveway. The snow plow guy uses a pickup truck that maneuvers well. Even when I had my car hauled to the repair shop, the truck driver was really careful in where he put his truck. Plus, I could tell that the guy had been driving trucks for years, he was really good. He also used the full length of cable so he did not need to get up close to my car. 5) And the worst is doing this kind of difficult work late at night in the dark. Bad things happen when you do not avoid difficult things at night. Now, the truck is blocking all the cars from getting out from the neighboring building. Those people are going to be upset if they cannot get out. What if they have an emergency? Sometimes I see construction happening on the highways at night. This just seems like an invitation to danger, loss of life as well as shoddy workmanship. How can you see what you are doing, even with the best lights? How can cars safely drive around the construction zone? Night is made for simple things like sleep and fun, not difficult things. I do not mind staying up late for fun, as long as I am well rested before and I get a chance to catch up on my rest after. Just do your planning that you avoid difficult things at night and your life will be much easier and better.
