Becoming Organized By Thinking and Planning Ahead
It seems that becoming organized has a lot to do with thinking and planning ahead. My son played high school football the last few years. The games started at 7:00 p.m. on Friday nights. There is usually a big crowd so in order to get a good parking spot and a seat you have to get there early. I really did not want to get to the games that early. The games themselves take about 2-1/2 hours. So I would be there a long time when I would rather be doing something else. I would rather get there right when the game starts but then I have to park a long way away and not have a very good choice of seats if I can find a seat at all. So, one Friday I left before 6 for the 7 o'clock game. I was plenty early enough to get the nice, close parking space I wanted. The space was close to the game but set up in a way I could get out easily when the game was over. Getting a ticket did not take very long at all either. I remember one game where I had to stand in line for 20 minutes to buy the ticket. I was able to buy a $1.00 seat pad for some comfort. They were selling them right at the game. Then I found a good seat near midfield and part way up right where I like to be to see the game really well. I had bought a soda and water so that I could enjoy them during the game. I had even brought along some reading material in my coat pocket so I had something to read before the game. So far, I would say I was really organized. The part I forgot about was to be prepared for the weather. I need help becoming organized regarding the weather. Toward the middle of the second quarter it started to rain. By just before halftime it was pouring rain and people were leaving in droves. I got up to at least get under the stands. When I got there I decided that since I was close to my car I could just go there. So I did and I did have extra clothes in the car to put on. I sat in my car for halftime. The rain ended in a little while, although it really came down in buckets earlier. The point of the story is that I was not ready for the weather. Some people were. They had done the thinking and planning ahead. They had umbrellas, rain coats and blankets. They were past becoming organized. They are organized.
