Massive Clutter Control
Cash for Clunkers

The massive clutter control program called Cash for Clunkers just ended.

Thousands of perfectly good cars have been destroyed in the government program.

If the government says it's ok to throw away perfectly fine running cars, then there is not anything that you cannot throw out without guilt. They are even paying you to do it.

If you ever have felt guilty for throwing something that is still good away, now you can breathe easier.

There is not going to be someone pounding on your door, demanding that you use your stuff up and not throw it away.

This is what I have been saying all along. There is plenty of space to throw things out. Landfill space is unlimited.

I have never feel bad for throwing something good out if I do not have a need for it.

I will admit that I have never thrown a car away. I have given a car to charity. But I have thrown perfectly good things away, large and small. Large things like pieces of wood and furniture. These were all things that could have been used, but I did not want or need anymore.

I guess I should feel that throwing a car away would be no big deal. But it is. The most important thing a person has is a car; I still have a hard time thinking cars should just be thrown away.

There is no need to ever feel any guilt for throwing anything away, ever.

If you are done with something and if throwing it away helps you, go ahead.

Now, giving things away is fine, if it helps you. If by giving things away it is hurting you, i.e. inconviencing you too much, or making your life difficult, then don't give it away, throw it away.

Giving to charity helps you because you can use the tax write off and because you will feel better, giving to those in need. It helps you in 2 ways.

Giving to family and friends helps you too. You help someone close to you and you can see how you have helped.

But your first responsibility is to yourself. Think of how your actions affect you, not others.

If something is not adding value to your life, throw it out. If you hate it, throw it out. Even if it is still good. Your life will improve with each act of clutter control.

I know it is hard to throw good things away. That is the purpose of this article. I am giving you permission to throw, if that is what you need.

Take my permission. I say it is your right to decide how you should live your life and that includes clutter control.

Again, if it is ok to throw away perfectly serviceable cars that have a lot of life left in them, then it is perfectly fine to throw anything else away, no matter how good it is.

Those cars are worth thousands of dollars and are worth even more to the people that would use them.

Nothing anyone says should affect your clutter control or have any bearing on what you decide should be thrown away.
