Got Junk?
Throw It Out

When life is closing in on me and I feel the got junk feeling around me, I find that the best thing I can do is throw something out.

Today, I threw these things out:

1) About 20 knives. I had gotten all these knives from my family and my ex-wife when I left her a few years ago. I kept the good knives and threw out the ones I have never even touched. They just took up space in my drawers. I could still throw out another 7 or 8 and still have plenty.

2) A whole garbage bag full of emails I printed out at work a few years ago. I did not have a computer at home until last year so I printed out personal stuff at work and brought it home to read. I read it all and saved it in my file cabinet but have not looked at it since.

3) A telephone and answering machine. Again, these were given to me when I left. I have a cell phone with voice mail, so I do not need either. They were just sitting in the bottom of my closet.

4) A short sleeved shirt I used to wear a few years ago but did not wear one time all last summer.

5) A pair of shorts that are 2 sizes too small.

6) A coffee cup. Why do we end up with so many coffee cups?

7) Some other stuff that just sits in the closet.

Doing this kind of clean up really makes me feel good. It kind of opens up my life a little. It makes me feel that something else good can come into it. The got junk feeling is thrown out.
