Organized Event Planning

Organized Event Planning will help every event you are involved with.

Everything you do can be done better if you think about it differently.

I went to church today to hear my daughter sing in the choir. I normally avoid church but do go whenever she is singing.

After the service there was a little buffet breakfast for a fellow who was studying for the priesthood.

We went, I like coffee and donuts as much or more than the next guy.

The problem was that there was a really long slow moving line. As my eyes looked ahead to see what the problem was it seemed so obvious to me.

They only had one long table that everyone filed along one side to pick up their coffee, juice, egg casserole, desert breads, donuts, yogurts and fruit.

The coffee was at the front end. So all the adults who drank coffee stood at the front of the line fiddling with the cream and sugar and pouring of the coffee. Then they would start down the line to get the food.

I can never understand the fascination with having a buffet on one long table that everyone has to walk by the entire length of the table.

Here are some ideas for your next organized event:

1) Have a couple of short tables instead of one long table. That way people do not have to walk past the entire length.

2) Put the drinks at the end of the table or on a separate table. It never is a good idea to be carrying a hot cup of coffee through a big crowd. It would be better to get your food and go back for your drink. That is a much safer way to go. Besides not everyone drinks coffee, especially kids. Why make everyone file past?

3) Let people go around both sides of the table. Most tables at these types of organized events are somewhat narrow so that people can easily reach from both sides.

4) Think, think, think of how a bunch of people will look at your set up. I know it looks fine when there is nobody there, but how will it function when 100 people are lined up and waiting?

5) Have plenty of garbage cans available.

6) Have a couple of places for people to pick up napkins. There is nothing worse than having no napkin. I can never figure out why people are so stingy with napkins. I can buy 500 napkins for $1.00. Why not provide plenty?

Well these are just a few simple ideas to have a more organized event. Once you start to put these types of ideas into place you will start to have even more ideas to make your events, parties and gatherings even more organized and well run.

Here are some more tips to have a great party from diy-place.
