Beverage Tips at the Organized Office
It is very difficult to have an organized office if your drinking habit gets in the way of getting work done. No, not that kind of drinking habit. I mean coffee drinking, water drinking, soda drinking or whatever beverages you drink at the office. I work in an office. I have for the last 20 years or so. I have always thought that one of the benefits of working in an office is the ability to enjoy drinking coffee and water while I work. It is refreshing and a pleasant part of the day. In some jobs having enough freedom to get something to drink is not an option. So, in order to keep your ability to enjoy beverages in your organized office you might want to look at this list of tips compiled from my years of experience drinking coffee and water at my organized office: 1) Bring your own cup and glass that is just right for your office and desk. The cups and glasses at most offices are usually too small, or big or hideously filthy. The ones I have seen look like they have been used by animals. Bring the right size. Some coffee dispensers are too short to fill up tall cups. I use a huge plastic water glass so that I do not have to be continually filling it. 2) Fill your cup or glass on the way to do something else. This way you won't be constantly going back and forth and be seen as a person who is always walking around. 3) Wash your own cup and glass. I just bring mine home when they need to be washed. Never assume that the cleaning people will do it. 4) Concentrate on your cup and glass when you are walking with it and when you are drinking to avoid spills. Some offices have very nice carpeting that will get ruined from coffee stains. Spilling on your computer or important papers is really bad. That is why I am stressing for you to concentrate during those moments. I have only had a few minor spills over the years, nothing major. 5) Keep some paper towels on your desk to wipe up any spills immediately. 6) I avoid filling my coffee or water when my boss is around as much as possible. Maybe I am a little paranoid, but I do not think it hurts to be careful around someone who can fire me. 7) Never brag about how much time you spend getting drinks during the work day to anyone. This should be your own secret. You never know who will be out to get you and will want to embarrass you about something minor like how much coffee or soda you drink. 8) Do not spend much time getting your drinks. If you are seen as frittering away a lot of time, this will anger your co-workers. I like to think of it as enjoying my beverages in an organized office in a smart way to keep my job and still get a lot of work done.
