I Hate
Organizing Clutter

I have a confession to make. I do not like organizing clutter. I hate it. Part of the reason I resisted the idea of being a professional organizer is that I really do not like going through other people's things that much.

It can infuriate me when a person hangs onto things that do not make sense anymore. It is so frustrating to have a lot of things getting in the way, taking up space and not adding any value to your life. That is why organizing for others is so difficult.

I can go into a home, office or any situation and see a massive amount of junk to throw out when the person whose stuff it is sees nothing that needs to go.

Right now my kids are both living with me. I had everything set up for me alone, now there are 3 people living in the space for one.

I have been going through my stuff and organizing clutter to make room for the kids stuff.

I did not have that much but still have taken at least 4 loads to Goodwill along with lots of stuff in the garbage.

Even though I do not have that much stuff I still have a lot and by getting rid of a bunch I have created a lot of room for the kids and all their stuff.

Getting rid of stuff and clutter always helps you and never hurts you. It always feels good. I know if you are a collector it will not feel good. It will probably hurt. But just as exercise hurts if you have never done it but is good for you, so is getting rid of clutter.

You can always work your clutter into smaller spaces and in a more thoughtful way. That is always a good thing to with stuff you have. You want to put things in the place that makes the most sense to you.

The big thing to do is just get rid of the stuff. Make going through your stuff and finding things to get rid of your priority. Until it is out of your life, you will not have the organized, clutter-free lifestyle that is possible.
