Hurry Up
Classic Organizing Ideas

One of the best organizing ideas is to pick up your pace and hurry up especially when you are dealing with others.

I took my kid's to a kid's outdoor show a few weekends ago. A local sportsman's group organized the show.

They have a place to shoot .22 rifles, shoot a running target, archery, pellet guns, fishing and a few other things.

It was quite nice, but...it could have been organized a little better. I mean it was organized well, but some of the men who were guiding the kids were really methodical, meaning slow moving. It took so long for them to explain things that each kid took forever.

I was waiting with my daughter for her to shoot the pellet gun. The guy showing how to use the gun was really slow. He was nice and trying to put the kids at ease with some joking, but there was a large line and it seemed he could have put some speed into it.

At one point he even stopped the shooting so he could get a bottle of water. Why would you stop when there is a long line waiting?

Couldn't you get a drink a little later when the crowd thins out?

I guess that is my point. I think he could have used one of my organizing ideas like speeding up the process a little and not made me wait so much.

I was already a little upset because when we waiting in line with my son for the running target a girl jumped in line ahead of him. I even told the guy running the station that we were here first. He acknowledged that he knew we were first but nothing was done.

Maybe you have to have extreme patience to be a hunter and waiting around like we did is no big deal to those guys.

Maybe since it was a hot day and this was mid afternoon they were tired and hot and not moving very fast.

But I still think you need to pick up your pace with people. Everyone appreciates the hustle, the showing that you care, the quick pace.

Speeding up, hustling and getting more done is one of the great organizing ideas and is a better way of dealing with people.

Save your slowness for yourself.
