Use Your Pockets For Personal Productivity
One way to increase your personal productivity is to carry with you in your pockets what you need and only what you need. This article is mostly for men. Most girls don't keep much in their pockets although now it seems that girls will keep their cell phone in a pants pocket. Normally, girls and women keep what they need in their purse. Girls and women should feel free to apply these tips to their purse. When I was a kid my pockets might have not held much. I wasn't like Tom Sawyer with my pockets full of frogs or worms or trinkets from the old days. I think they were mostly empty. I didn't need money or keys or a driver's license. Once I got into high school then my pockets started to fill up. I started carrying a wallet with my driver's license and a few bucks. I still only needed my car keys. In college I carried a wallet and keys. It still wasn't that much. As the years have slipped by and my responsibilities piled up, I started carrying more in my pockets. It was easier to put something in my pocket than carry it along with a squirming baby. During those years my pants pockets were stuffed with stuff. I used my pockets to increase my personal productivity. Now as the kids are older I have been able to reduce what I carry around to the necessities. I only want to only carry the absolute minimum but I still want to have a lot of personal productivity by having what is needed. The contents of my pants pockets is basically the same year round with some minor adjustments as explained below: Right hand front pocket; 1. Wallet, always. The contents are explained
in my wallet article.
2. Keys, always. I have my house keys, car keys, office keys and key to my P.O. Box. It also has one of those round 4 size screwdrivers made by Craftsman tools. The keys are just on one round key holder. I hate those great big key holders, they are too bulky. 3. Small pocketknife, nearly always. This has a knife, screwdriver/nail file, scissors, tweezers and toothpick. It is one of the handiest things to have on you ever. 4. Important papers, as needed if I am doing something without my planner book. Left hand front pocket; 1. Cell phone, nearly always, or possibly in my coat pocket when I am wearing a coat. 2. Gum, mints, when I go out, in my coat pocket when I am wearing a coat. 3. Lighter, when I go out in the evening. Right hand rear pocket; 1. Nothing. Left hand rear pocket; 1. Nothing. I like to walk around with only the stuff I need. This way I can avoid the bulky look of a lot of stuff in my pockets. I think it makes for a more attractive appearance but yet leaves me able to do anything. Think about what you carry around to increase your own personal productivity.
