A Simple Life
A simple life sounds so good, doesn't
it? Relaxed, carefree, doing what
you want. Free from problems, excessive
hard work and inconveniences.
If it is so good, why don't we all
have it?
Why is life difficult?
Why is life hard?
Why are we rushing around in a chaotic way?
Why do we have to do so many things
we don't want to do?
I think it is because we don't think
it is possible. We don't think we
deserve it. We don't think that
it can be done.
We work hard at making life hard. We
never think that if we would just
work hard a little bit on making
life easier, then we would have
the simpler, easier life you want.
The first step is to
be early as much as possible.
It is possible if you want
it and are willing to make some changes
to how you do things and how you
think about things. You will want to create more time by looking for ways of
keeping things short.
One of the main ways to simplify
your life is to eliminate
clutter.
A clutter free life will immediately
make your life easier.
I think that people make things harder
for themselves by setting
goals
that are not in agreement with what
they want to do with their life. One way I use to clarify my goals is to think of my painful experiences and how by
goal setting
in a different way I could have avoided the pain or find ways to minimize it in the future.
If a goal of yours is to have a simpler, easier
life then your other goals will need
to work with that goal.
If you have a goal of reading 10 books
every week, traveling to a second home
every weekend, working 70 hours a week
at your job so that you get promoted,
coaching your child's team, going to
every church event and planning family
parties every month then your goal
of a simple life is not going to
happen.
If your goal is an easier life then
one of the best ideas is to just
not do things. Avoid doing things
that you really don't want to do
and that do not add value to your
life.
You can simplify your life by minimizing what you think you
have to do.
I also keep more free time for myself by realizing that I even though I may love doing something;
I can't do it all the time.
I do things when they should be done and prepare for the future by
planning for the worst case
and having the things I need ahead of time.
Making life simple also involves
not making stupid mistakes
that could easily be avoided and not
misplacing your cell phone,
wallet,
or your keys.
Your home will be easier to maintain once you
get it how you want it.
Staying organized is so much simpler once your life is set up the way that works best for you.
I think a simple life is a life that
you can easily do. Your life just
works well for how you want to live
it. You get enough sleep, you get
enough exercise. You have
health reserves.
You get what you
want done. You are satisfied.
