A Simple Life
A simple life sounds so good, doesn't it? You dream of a relaxed, carefree, doing what you want lifestyle. Free from problems, excessive hard work and inconveniences. If this type of life is so good, why don't we all have it? Why is your life difficult? Why is your life hard? Why are you rushing around in a chaotic way? Why do you have to do so many things you don't want to do? Why is there any drama, any problems and so many frustrations? I think it is because you don't think it is possible. You don't think you deserve it. You don't think that it can be done. You think that it is your lot in life or your destiny to struggle. Instead of working hard at making life easy you work hard at making life hard. You never think that if you would just work a little bit harder on making your life easier, then you would have the simpler, easier life you want. Making life easy is not that hard. It is not like obtaining a difficult college degree, starting a business with lots of employees, going to a physically demanding job you hate or making some massive change in your life. It is mostly stopping doing things that don't make sense. The first step is to
be early as much as possible.
Being early never hurts you, it always helps and it always will. Just think how much struggle in your life is from being late. It is possible to be early if you want it and are willing to make some changes to how you do things and how you think about things. You will want to create more time by looking for ways of
keeping things short.
Most everything that you do is better if it doesn't take that long. You can choose to do more and more as long as what you are doing does not take that long. One of the main ways to simplify your life is to eliminate
clutter.
A clutter free life will immediately make your life easier. I think that one of the hidden reasons you make things harder for yourself is by setting
goals
that are not in agreement with what you want to do with your life. Setting goals is important but only if the goals are right for you. One way I use to clarify my goals is to think of my painful experiences and how by
goal setting
in a different way I could have avoided the pain or find ways to minimize it in the future. If a goal of yours is to have a simple life then your other goals will need to work with that goal. If you have a goal of reading 10 books every week, traveling to a second home every weekend, working 70 hours a week at your job so that you get promoted, coaching your child's team, going to every church event and planning family parties every month then your goal of a simple life is not going to happen. If your goal is an easier life then one of the best ideas is to just not do things. Avoid doing things that you really don't want to do and that do not add value to your life. You can simplify your life by minimizing what you think you
have to do.
There is really very little that you have to do. I also keep more free time for myself by realizing that I even though I may love doing something;
I can't do it all the time.
I do things when they should be done and prepare for the future by
planning for the worst case
scenario and having the things I need ahead of time. You know what things you need, it is not a big secret. Just get those things early when you are doing other things anyway. Making life simple also involves
not making stupid mistakes
that could easily be avoided and not
misplacing your cell phone,
wallet,
or your keys.
Your home will be easier to maintain once you
get it how you want it.
Staying organized is so much simpler once your life is set up the way that works best for you. Your life will be easier if you expend just a little more energy to
pick up and put away things
as you go and at the end of the day. Think of it as always being ready or done. I think a simple life is a life that you can easily do. Your life just works well for how you want to live it. You get enough sleep, you get enough exercise. You have
health reserves.
You get what you want done. You are satisfied.
