The Organized Student

The organized student should know their way around their school really well.

I just got an email from my sons high school. The school said there was a bomb threat written on the bathroom wall and that they were investigating along with the Sheriffs Department.

I called my ex-wife and son to make sure that they had heard the news. Neither one had.

The school said that it appears to be nothing and that school would go on as normal tomorrow. But they did say that parents could keep their kids home if they want.

I asked my son if he had heard any rumors of had feelings lately at school.

I wanted to reassure him that there would be no problem staying home if he had heard anything or had a bad gut feeling about something going down.

He said that he hadn't and it was probably just a joke. That is probably what it is. If the Sheriffs Department finds anything they would call off school for a few days.

So he is going to school tomorrow.

But then I called him back and told him to at least spend some time tomorrow in class memorizing and thinking of the nearest exit to the outside from each classroom.

That is what I mean by being the organized studenet and knowing your way around your school. Most schools are very large and sometimes kids do not ever really understand all the ins and outs and hallways.

I want my son to know these things and be able to leave as fast as possible.

I think it is wise for anyone to know the quickest exit to everywhere you are. Your work, the mall, a big store, the ball field, your church.

Your own safety is the most important thing to be the organized student.
