Time Wasters
Store Holds and Layaways

Cutting out or at least cutting back time wasters will make your life so much easier, simpler and better. Whenever you are involved in activities that waste your time, you are in affect wasting your life.

Last night my ex-wife called. I bristle every time she calls because it is rarely something good. She asked if I could stop at Target and buy the jeans for my daughter that she had put on hold. Since I knew that my daughter needed jeans now and for school coming up, I reluctantly agreed. I was reluctant because I have been giving my ex-wife a bunch of extra money lately and was getting tired of it.

I went to Target and found the area my ex said the jeans were on hold in. The lady could not find them and told me to check the service desk. They were not there either and the lady at that desk walkie talkied the guy in the back room and asked him to check back there. After a few minutes he called back and told her that he could not find them either.

So, I was not able to get the jeans for my daughter. I called my ex-wife and told her the story. Of course, she was enraged at me and questioned my competence until I explained how I had checked thoroughly. She then cursed the store for not holding the jeans longer.

To me, putting things on hold or on layaway is a huge time waster.

Just think, my ex-wife and daughter went to the store and tried on a bunch of jeans to get some that fit. They then put them on hold with the paperwork that requires. Then they needed to remember how long the jeans would be held for and then when they had no time, or money, to get the jeans she called me to have me run out there right before the store closed. When I got there the jeans were not there anyway. Then I had to call my ex and explain to her what happened.

Then she demanded that I drop off some money so she and my daughter could go shopping for jeans the next day.

The time wasted was incredible. Just resist the idea of putting things on hold or layaway. If you do not have the money to buy something now, you will not have the money to buy something later. Face that fact. If you need something, either just go and buy it or if you do not have the money, you need to wait.

When I was married to my wife she was always doing the stuff on hold and putting things on layaway. I hated it then and I hate it now. It was always one of the big time wasters then and it is now even when I am not married anymore.
